U11 East A
*Shapwick and Polden (0) w/o Taunton Deane B (3)

Huish and Langport (0) 265 lost to Bridgwater (3) 311

Home team writes “Essentially Huish were just out batted by Bridgwater who, batting first, were offered far to many free hits on the legside.....Only Luke , Sam and Myles got it right with any consistency but real damage was done in the first [14] and last [21] overs. ....Myles with 2 wickets with successive balls in his second over briefly offered hope but was taken apart in the final over with some excellent shots particularly those hit back over his head!....Bridgwater 311 - 3....In reply Huish got off to a promising start with Tommy [12] and Hugo [7] setting a decent platform but sadly the rest of the line up couldn't add much from the bat with the only remaining four of the innings coming from Johnathon off the last ball.....Huish 265-2....Not a great game but competitive in parts and with one or two very good individual performances in particular from Bridgewater's first and last batting pairs. A deserved win for the visitors!”

Taunton St Andrews B (3) 273 beat Glastonbury (0) 261

Away team writes “Well done to both teams on a finely contested last league match of the season. Many thanks for the much appreciated refreshments.”

*Ilminster (3) 239 beat Taunton St Andrews B (3) 215

Glastonbury (3) 362 beat Huish and Langport (0) 195

Away team writes “Played at Huish a day early [by arrangement with the league] Huish had a pre-declared much weakened side with one playing their second ever game and all key players unavailable. No keeper [last minute] so duties shared between two kids who had half an hours tuition. ....The Game was a total mismatch!........Put in to bat Huish got it off the square 5 times [two 4's] with 5 maidens bowled by Glastonbury 3 of them with wickets!....Huish a game 195-7....In reply Glastonbury 362 -1 [played on]. Twenty two 4's and one 6. At least three of the fours hit with reversed hands.....Only two of the Glastonbury kids on anything like the same level which was a shame as I had suggested that with league honours out of reach this was a great opportunity to give some inexperienced kids a game. ....Maybe they don't have any!....”

*Shapwick and Polden (0) 236 lost to Westland SportsRNRO (3) 258

Huish and Langport (0) 242 lost to Taunton Deane B (3) 298

Home team writes “Huish batting first [242-5] got off to a bad start losing four of their wickets within the first four overs of which Rupert for TD had 3 for just 2 runs!....The inexperienced middle order struggled against the bowling which left the final pair a lot to do. Good bowling from Finley and an outstanding final over from Alex meant that Huish felt a bit fortunate to get over 240!........In reply Huish had problems from the start with wicketkeeper Jonathon having to retire in his first game back from a bike accident. This set the tone for the evening with far too many extras given and the stumps not consistently threatened and consequently not enough wickets taken. ....TD 298 - 3....On the plus side fielding on debut from Liam was outstanding. Tommy and Josh also shone in the field.....”

Taunton St Andrews B (3) 293 beat Bridgwater (0) 234

Wembdon A (0) 219 lost to Glastonbury (3) 288

Away team writes “Skipper Jay T scored 27 for the visitors and was an effective 'keeper. 8 year-old Will M-H batted well for his 17 and took 2 wickets. Joel S and Ben C bowled very well, taking 7 wickets between them. Many thanks to a sporting Wembdon team for the half-time refreshments.”

Jay T. scored 26 for the home side, Joel S. bowled 3 overs for just 2 runs, while Freddie played well behind the stumps. Street's Harry took a fearful blow to the face while fielding; we all hope it won't put him off the game. Reacted very bravely............................................................................................................................. ....................................”

Westland Sports (0) 254 lost to Huish and Langport (3) 271

Away team writes “Batting first Huish scored 271 -3 in the face of some occasionally very accomplished bowling which at times was inches from adding three or four more wickets.....The final pair put on 36 with Ged Williams-Pritchard top scoring in the game with 25 not out.....In reply Westlands reached 240 before the final pair came in. Huish's bowlers did Just enough to peg back the runs particularly Ged who bowled a maiden and then took a wicket in the final over.....Westlands 254-5....A good game played by two well matched sides.....”

Huish and Langport (0) 211 lost to Taunton St Andrews B (3) 300

Home team writes “Played in sunshine and rain Huish, bowling first, kept taking wickets but the less experienced team were punished by more aggressive and experienced batting.....TSA 300 - 8 ....Top score for TSA Thomas R 34 n/o....Best bowling for Huish Ged Williams-Pritchard 3-0-29-3 and a brilliant direct hit run out!........In response a far less potent batting performance and a few soft wickets meant that the home side were never in the race. Huish 211-7”

Glastonbury (3) 308 beat Bridgwater (0) 242

Home team writes “A good performance by Glastonbury's more experienced team, last pair Jay T. and Felix S. putting on 59 runs. Great credit to Bridgwater who fought very hard, with a special mention for their skipper Tom, who took a fine catch and set a great example in the field.”

Huish and Langport (0) 252 lost to Wembdon A (3) 280

Home team writes “Wembdon lost the toss and were put in to bat. Huish took 6 wickets but could have had a few more with balls in the air falling between static fielders or not quite holding catches when balls went to hand.....In reply lack of experience showed with the Huish team fielding 5 players who have only a handful of games between them the Huish batters simply did not score enough runs. Despite losing fewer wickets therefore the home side were never up with the run chase once captain Jonathon was out.....All things considered, a good game played with great enthusiasm by both teams!”
