U13 8s East Completed Results 2016
Sun 31 Jul 2016
U13 8s East
Huish and Langport (3) 285 beat Middlezoy (0) 283

Home team writes “Huish bowling first got off to a great start with a wicket from the first delivery from spinner David [3-0-3-7] followed by a wicket maiden from captain Will. With a further wicket from slow left arm bowler Sam the visitors were on 222 at the half way point. At which time Adam injured his shoulder and left the field reducing Huish to 7.....Enter Matt and Natt and then Ben and Josh who despite both pairs losing a wicket see Middlezoy home to 283 -5.........In reply...not the best start with David hitting a superb cover drive for 4 off the first ball and then getting himself run out twice in the first over!Tight bowling from Middlezoy particularly from Ben and Alex meant Huish were on 205 at 10 overs. Three wickets in 7 balls then reduce the chasing side to 193 at the end of the 12th. A small recovery from Ged and Sam meant the final pair needed 50 to win! A run out in the next ...39 from 3. 15 off the bat in the next and 15 in the penultimate over ...276 with 6 balls remaining. A single from Toby [21 n/o] and two 4's from Will [21 net] plus a bye completed a remarkable and unlikely victory!....An exciting game as Huish's last pair snatched the win. Middlezoy's boys accepted their loss with commendable dignity!”

Huish and Langport (0) 230 lost to Long Sutton (3) 239

Home team writes “A remarkable game in many ways. Long Sutton batting first cruised to 244 - 1 after 7 overs at which point 2 U11's took charge for Huish. Myles Dandy 4-1-4-3[w] and Sam Holland bowling slow left arm an superb 4 -1 -17-7 [w]....For LS Archie in the last pair top scored with an ultimately decisive 33 n/o....Long Sutton 239 - 12........In reply Huish simply needed to be patient and not take risks but time and again batsman played across the line to straight deliveries.....By the time Huish got into the final pair they were on 191 having failed to get over the 200 mark at any point from the first over!....Toby [16n/o]and Will [15 n/o] then gave a brilliant batting display with great communication and running between the wickets only to fall just 10 runs short of victory.....Thwarted by some great fielding and bowling from Long Sutton in the final four overs this was a great contest to watch as a neutral and played in great spirit by both teams many of whom are schoolmates.....Huish 230 - 9....Best Bowling for Long Sutton Sammy 4-2-1-2 [w] and Archie who bowled 2 of the final overs 4-0-14-2 [w]....”
Away team writes “Great game, summarised very well by Ian. Thanks to Huish, very tight fixture with the ball dominating proceedings. Well done to Sam from Huish for taking 7 wickets in 4 overs!”

Shapwick and Polden (0) 233 lost to Huish and Langport (3) 301

Home team writes “Well played H”
Away team writes “An essentially U11 Shapwick side batting first....made 233-6 with extras making the major contribution!....Pick of the bowlers Lottie Maple 4-2-2-2....In reply Huish got off to a steady start....Toby Parcell hitting 19 in the first pair. Huish made steady progress while lossing a wicket here and there. The final pair saw Joe Martin hit 39 not out which would have been 42 but for a brilliant stop and throw from Harry who at 9 was the youngest player on the park! Huish 301-5”

Away team writes “Huish batting first in a rain interrupted innings put on 300 -3 with one wicket falling to a suicidal run out from the final pair.....Will top scoring with 22 not out.........In response Huntspill struggled to stay over 200 as they were repeatedly pegged back by some compelling Huish bowling. Huntspill finishing on 197 -11....Huish best bowling David Becky 4-0-3-18 and Will Godsafe 3-1-3-6....Played in excellent spirit by both teams in challenging conditions.....”

Huish and Langport (0) 209 lost to North Petherton (3) 269

Home team writes “A topsy turvey game with 20 wickets of which 9 were catches.....NP lost the toss and were put in to bat which looked a good decision after 4 overs when they were reduced to 178 for 4 but the middle order batting won the battle with middle order bowlers which meant that NP finished on 269 - 10....Best bowler form Huish David Becky 4-1-4-11 with a great spin bowling display.....In reply Huish started okay and then the wheels fell off in the middle!....The final pair went for it anyway and paid the price for some expansive batting in trying to get to an almost impossible target.....An entertaining game for the neutral and a well deserved win for NP who were the better side on balance.”
